About the event
Join the UBC Astronomy Club at Lee Square (outside the UBC Bookstore) between 8:00am and 10:00am on Saturday, October 14th for an observation of the annular solar eclipse (weather permitting - keep an eye on the club Instagram @ubcastronomyclub for updates if the weather is looking cloudy.)
The eclipse begins at 8:08am, reaches maximum at 9:20am (at which point 76% of the Sun's disk will be obscured by the Moon), and ends at 10:38am.
Please note that looking directly at the Sun without appropriate shielding, even during an eclipse, can cause permanent eye damage.
